The "miraculous" spring

According to tradition, a miraculous spring gushed forth on the spot where Reine, a young Christian girl, was martyred in 253 following the orders of Olibrius, a Roman prefect. The spring soon became a place of popular devotion and various commercial activities. It was a subject of dispute: the villagers, the priests, the Franciscans, the bishops and the curators of the hospital fought for the control and use of its water for three centuries, from 1498 to the French Revolution (1789).

The aedicule sheltering the source was rebuilt in 1931 on older foundations.
